I reviewed this short story for my Blog at bookworm2bookworm. I love nothing better than reading Christmas stories around Christmas time. I actually go out of my way to make sure my TBR is stocked up. This Christmas I'm recommending this short, sweet, funny and utterly romantic tear-jerker called `SECRET SANTA' by Kristine Cheney.
Holly is a girl after my own heart. She's bubbly, beautiful, determined and tenacious! For seven years she's been a part of Ashton Falls Secret Santa Program, and she embraced her `task' with all the enthusiasm and joy she possessed, especially because this particular time of year would remind her of lacking the closeness of her own estranged family.
Marcus is not looking forward to the Holidays nor is he in the mood for anything at all. His life has undergone a very dramatic change in the past few months and solitude is all he wants and welcomes, so finding an intruder on his porch, apparently delivering a gift, was something he isn't much happy about.
SECRET SANTA was a very heartwarming gift that appealed to every romantic bone in my body!
Ms. Cheney has done such a great job in creating these two lonely souls who through unforeseen circumstances are drawn to each other and are clearly meant to be
together. In a short span of time Ms. Cheney has managed to make me laugh out loud when reading of Holly's deliveries, sighing every time these two just looked at each other, let alone touched! But most of all, Ms. Cheney had me in tears once I found the reasons behind our couple's loneliness and heartbreak.
Like I said, for such a short story, Ms. Cheney's managed to deliver a very rich and truly sweet romance that will leave you satisfied, happy and cozy all over! This one is a Christmas MUST!

This book was wonderful, heart warming and just Superb. I loved it. Holly is a character that immediately captures your heart and makes you want to strive at being a more caring and loving person. Marcus is a heartbroken handsome man who is in need of cheering up. But, he doesn't want to be cheered up, he just wants to be left alone.
Holly's perseverance throughout this book is remarkable. She is so beautiful on the inside and out, you can't help but fall in love with her. This book made me laugh and cry. It made it a bit hard to get my painting done because I was listening to the book and had to stop a couple of times to wipe away my tears.
I highly recommend this book to all, this is such a heart warming lovely story. I like it so much that I am even attaching the link to Amazon for you to buy it and I never do that in my reviews. I just feel everyone should read this. It's going in my Favourite books category.

Have the tissues ready for this one !! Kristine Cheney has tugged at every heart string possible in this read. Its filled with passion and a love story that will not only have you bawling your eyes out but your heart doing somersaults one moment and other moments you will feel like its going to leave your chest.
Secret Santa is a well delivered intense and emotional read, that will not only tug at your soul but have your heart missing a few beats. The passion between Marcus and Holly was beautifully crafted, passionate and ** swoony..** waggles eyebrows !! Fun filled moments that will make you also make you grin !!
The storyline was amazing, I was drawn in from the very first pages, and found myself, giggling at the funny antics aka Holly's persistence was amusing and quiet funny at times. Other moments I was wiping the tears away, trying to solider on. A fluent flowing storyline, that will only stop you reading to wipe aside the tears - I can guarantee you will read right till the end.
A wonderful array of characters that I'm sure you will enjoy, a heartfelt storyline with emotions that are so well portrayed its like poetry. Kristine always portrays her characters emotions so fluently ..... giving us depth into there thoughts and actions and feelings. Her descriptions are well envisaged you can see every detail.
Secret Santa delivers us Holly she has been chosen to be the Secret Santa for Marcus Jenner. Marcus proves to be quiet a handful, not wanting the gifts Holly is leaving, he finds himself torn between the blonde-eyed beauty and her quest to deliver him gifts. Unbeknown as to why she is gifting him and stalking him - He is not sure if its the calling of his heart that bothers him most, or the persistence of her gifts, but in time he finds his Secret Santa is needing the most treasured gift of all.
Secret Santa is immensely appealing and will linger in your heart long after you've read it. Lose your heart to a magical Christmas tale that shows the true beauty of giving but also receiving and the most precious gift of all. Love and life. A must read to add to your reader !!

I admit to loving Christmas stories in general. And this one pulls all of your emotions out of you. I laughed, cried and cheered at the end! All Holly wants is to play Secret Santa like she has for the past several years. This get her through this lonely time of year. But through a series of misadventures one of her "missions" catches her in the act. But Holly is not about to let a little thing like a mission telling her no to stop her. She's going to deliver all 12 of Marcus' gifts come hell or high water or swimming pools. And there's the fact that there is something about Marcus that tugs her heart strings and makes her want something more in her life. Something like Marcus.
Marcus has lost his beloved wife a year ago and is in a bah, humbug kind of mood these days. The last thing he wants to deal with at this time of year is one of "Santa's elf" running amok on his behalf. But there is something about Holly that keeps her in his mind and starts his libido complicating matters when he's near her. In the end they both do some giving and receiving and end up with the best thing in life and that is love.
In the true tradition of Christmas stories this one leaves you feeling warm and happy and gives you the sense of peace that the important things in life are still just as important. The gift of family, friends, life and love.

All I can say is WOW!!!! I just finished Spartan Heart #1 with my heart racing. It is truly a wonderful story of love, passion, and the magic of trust. Evangeline and Dorien will stay in my heart forever. The action and dialogue were quick and well written. Ms. Cheney leaves the book with a cliff hanger and all I can say is "Thank God I have the second part to read now"..LOL
Spartan Heart #1 brings us the story of Evangeline who has inherited the family museum. She is weighted down with guilt and mourning because of the murder of her parents. Her meeting with Dorien actually had me smiling. I don't know if Ms. Cheney meant it to be that way, but that was my reaction.
Dorien is a Spartan who was cursed after losing a battle. I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil the story. Needless to say in the course of his relationship with Evan he finds out some answers to what is going on in her life. Amazing plot twists pop up that have you holding your breath. An old enemy from Dorien's past shows up to cause trouble. To answer any questions about resolving that trouble I must read Spartan Hearts part 2. But first I must take a breath and let my heart settle before finishing the journey with these two lovers.
Thank you Ms. Cheney for a wonderful start to the Spartan story. The only reason I am not ranting at the cliff hanger is because I have the second part too. LOL. Great job.

It's 3:31am and I just finished the book and all I can say is: Wow! Since the moment I started reading I couldn't stop. I've always been in love with Greek mythology (and any other mythology in fact) and I haven't found a book that mixes past and present so well while creating a love story for us to enjoy. Expect to fall in love with, Evan and Dorien , while they struggle to understand what is going on in their lives and in their hearts. Not everyday a girl gets her own Spartan hero, right? And believe me, what a hero... :D
And of course, we need to have the bad guys. In this case we have Demona, an oracle - female, of course- and her minion who well... wants vengeance for something that happened in the old Sparta. Sometimes people should let things go, specially after what, 2.000 years?! We have Taryn (Evan's best friend) who mad me laugh a lot, and Tommy who made me smile because he is just that sweet.
The writing is wonderful and I didn't get bored at all, on the contrary, the way Kristine writes makes you feel like you are actually seeing what is happening. I was even
tempted to go and make some popcorn! If you haven't read it yet, what are you waiting for?! Believe me, you will love it. And now, while I'm writing this all I want is to read the second part.

Kristine Cheney has a new HUGE fan! this book was awesome! In every way. Every time I got to the end of a page, I couldn't turn it fast enough. It left me breathless! Her characters were so believable and lovable, and some were hate-able. lol... I loved them all, the good and the bad! I want my very own Dorien! He is the man of my Dreams! The cliffhanger at the end, OH MY! If you haven't gotten this book yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO READ IT! You are missing out on a WONDERFUL start to an amazing series! Kristine, THANK YOU for picking me to win this book and Part 2! You do not disappoint! Loyal fan to the end! Okay, going to start Part two now! I can't wait for the adventures in store between those pages!

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised - I really loved this story! I was lucky enough to win this e-book in a contest that the author was having. I thought the story sounded really good, and I wasn't wrong! I absolutely adore love stories pairing a human and an immortal together. The book starts off with Evangeline at the funeral of her parents, who were murdered. Evangeline has a lot of guilt because she hasn't been around for the past 9 years. The emotions in this book are well written, it's like you can feel what the characters are going through.
After placing a drunken kiss on a statue, Evangeline releases Dorien from his curse. There is immediate chemistry - it's swoon-worthy really. There's a mix of so much passion and sweetness, it's perfect. Dorien is the perfect guy - well, next to my husband of course. He has the Greek god thing going on, along with being sweet, tough, gentle, devoted, protective, etc... He will have you swooning. What I loved, was the fact that Dorien is from a completely different era. The way he views things in the present day is hilarious!
The end of the book has a big cliff-hanger. It's very frustrating, but luckily the second part is already out! I can't wait until I get a chance to read it. If you are a fan of sweet and steamy romances - run out and buy this quick!

Part One had us left us anxioulsy waiting to know as to whom the rogue was, that showed up at the end of Part One to take Evangeline right or wrong. Did he mean her harm? Was this the end? Once again Demona has been meddling and causing chaos. Lucky for Angeline she is strong willed and this stranger is able to read her mind and put two and two together. Realizing he has been set up he is determined to seek his revenge and for forgiveness.
Dorien finds out the truth as to Evangeline's pregnancy, and old friendships are re kindled.
Part two takes us back to the land of the Spartans, Evangeline, Tommy, Philip and Dorien have decided to go back to where Dorien was found, and search for his warrior Spartan companions. Here, mysteries are uncovered, kiss of life is revisited, there is mayhem, and danger, and even a little lovin thrown in.
A menace * Phebus* - Demona's minion is beside himself, taking circumstances in his own hands. He is cruel, unkind and on a mission to destroy all in his way. Evangeline being is target in goal !
Not only do they all fight for their existence but Evangeline fights for what she believes in. Here in Sicily Evangeline discovers the true meaning to her happily ever after. With all her new family always close by - I'm sure that life will never be dull or lacking in love.
Life is never what it seems......
Demona continues on with her bitchy - sour antics, woman scorned if you may call her - but in time her visions aren't what they are cracked up to be, life for her is a completely new ball game. They say pay back is a bitch and Im sure she will get her just rewards in time ..
With family and friends close by Evangeline and Dorien goe through heartache, tears, and happiness. Dorien and Evans love is challenged and pushed to boundaries, and in the end will good win over evil? Or will it tear their happily ever after away?
*******
Oh my - As much as I enjoyed part one, Part two is a pearler. When I say that, Kristine has hit the jackpot for all things that sparkle. This story certainly left my eyes
twinkling and mind whirling. I was drawn into this modern world filled with Dorien and his old ways. The words, the expressions, made me giggle, - Dorien is still back in his old years, in the way that he speaks - ** with child ** babes... I enjoyed his words and mannerisms, ** Sparta Style **
His love is still has strong as a swift current, smoothly running and never ceasing flow. Full on and in fluent motion. A love like that, you would only want to last a life time, or for immortality. His loyalty is admiring, his love, unfathomable, and his word infallible. A true Spartan King...
Evan is still strong willed, more persistent if that is possible, and still totally in love with Dorien, in this story her will is challenged, and her love for her babies is like any mother - She will do what it takes to save them from harms way. She is kick arse if you may call it, determined and even when she is down on her knees deep in mud, she is still willing to do all that it takes to save and live for the one she loves. A true warrior in her own ways and world.
Evan and Doriens love is still sizzling ,sensual, magnetic, and filled with devotion, this alone makes you think what it would be like to have a love like this.. I know its only a book !! But hey,, it works for me and I love the lovey dovey stuff. The emotions once again are expressive, fluent and magical. Whilst reading you can feel Kristine 's passion for her work, - the story - it reflects in her writing. She pours her heart into it, this reflects upon all the emotions present. Poetry in motion once again - characters feelings well portrayed, and emotions that pull at your heart strings. When a book can bring out all kinds of emotions, you know it has been a good read.
The dialogue jam packed with all the goodies needed for a great story, plot fluent and steadily paced, chapters all flowing from one to the next. Until of course you reach those critical moments where you frantically read just to find out what's happening.. This alone was an adrenaline rush!!! SIGH!!
Part two was filled with so much suspense I thought I was going to spontaneously combust in the end.. NOT PREDICTABLE and this was kind of scary !! Because we all want we want when we are reading right ?? and when turns of events don't go the way we want ... well, you know the story...
We all envisage while we read,, but I found I read, gasped, read - sighed... smiled and thought ahhhh... Once you have read it you will understand. I thoroughly enjoyed this world that Kristine Has created, it will take you back in time but also keep you within our modern world. An adventure I'm sure that you will enjoy.
All secondary characters, blended in well with the storyline, new characters introduced. I really enjoyed these refreshing new characters, their loyalty and mannerisms enjoyable and once again sexy spartans!! The humour was enlightening between the characters, and the mind reading amusing. We need a little hotness in our reads!!!! ** swoon **
I look forward to more in the following series. This alone leaves a lot of room for character building and storyline for the next book in the series.. Keep in mind that this is part 2,, so Part 1 and Part 2 is one book ;) just split in half ... to tease us :O) Overall it was fantastic!!!!

OMG!!! Do you all remember the shockingly twisted ending in the first part of this story... poor Evan found herself at the mercy of a hulking big rapist!! So as you can imagine that is exactly where this book starts off. Talk about at the end of your seat material. From the word go I was caught up in it all. There was so much going on, and I was entranced!! Anywho, the book starts off from our rapists point of view, and we soon come to realise that he isn't the monster we all feared. Phillip is actually one of Dorien's men - the closest thing he has to a brother. Demona tricked Phillip into going to Evan's house and violating her, she told him if he done that one thing she would free him from his curse forever. Luckily he has a conscience and aint a crazed rapist, so he didn't harm Evan. Once he learnt Dorien was alive and who Evan really was Phillip promises to love her as a sister, and he does just that. I like this man, he's loyal and kind, and obviously another hunky Spartan warrior. Grr...
So, back to the drama... as Evan flees her would be rapist she has a serious fall on the stairs and is at risk of harming her babies. Dorien who didn't know that he was gonna be a daddy flips out and we see a side of him that is not so nice!! The rage and betrayal he felt was heart breaking, but he did over react a little if you ask me. Regardless, he acts like a fool and has some serious sucking up to do later - which he does, cause lets face it, Dorien is amazing!! When Evan wakes up in the hospital her lover is there and springs a nice surprise on our girl, one that makes her smile. She also has to face Phillip, and luckily for him Evan is quite understanding where Demona and his Immortality are concerned.
As time goes on Dorien and Phillip decide to go in search of their other brothers-in-arm, and everyone heads off to Italy to find them. So as you can imagine they end up pulling three gorgeous statues out of the ground in Sicily. However, the drama that follows this is jaw-dropping. Kristine really amazed me with the action in this book, I was literally on the damn floor never mind edge of my seat. Phebus makes an unwelcome return and messes our girl Evan pretty bad, while Dorien and Phillip watch helplessly. Taryn in the mean time is off kissing hunky statues and releasing the other Spartans from their curse. Then it is on... lets just say you'll have to read the book to see Phebus get what he bloody deserves. Poor Evan!!
But at least something good comes from their trip to Italy. Dorien is reunited with the rest of his men, his brothers. And all I can say is that these Spartans are something else!! Yum!! LOL. Celeas, aka Leo, is the broody type... all dark and mysterious. Paraebates, aka Pops, is the father figure... reliable and strong. And then there is Thessalus, aka Thess, who is the charmer of the group... and I'm totally swooning over this guy. Taryn is one lucky lady - even if she is currently in the middle of an emotional melt down because of him. They'll be okay, wait and see. Something else happens in Italy but I'm not telling you what, you'll have to read it and see what it is. *wink*
I swear I cried my eyes out for the whole of the second part of this book, or since Italy at least. There was so much going on, all the hurt, heartache, and drama courtesy of that bitch Demona. There's the carry on with her deal with Dorien, the birth of the babes, and then a super shocker of an ending!!! - once again Kristine will have you cursing her name... lol. I love the way you write woman, you totally kept me roped in. As you will have everyone else who reads it. So my lovelies, make sure you all grab a copy of this amazing book. It will blow you away, I promise!!
OMG! Kristine you sure know how to create a fantastic read. I felt like I was there, felt every emotion, I cried, I laughed, I want a spartan man of my own!!!! I cannot wait to read more of the spartan brothers. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful stories.

I have been waiting for this book for what seems like forever, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed at all. I knew as soon as I saw the sexy, gorgeous cover that this story was going to be amazing, and it was. Spartan Surrender is the fantastic and breathtaking new installment to Kristine's Spartan Series.
Spartan Surrender follows Taryn and Thessalus. Their story is a lot darker, more sensual, and more complicated than Spartan Heart. It is purely a battle of the heart for not only the characters, but for the readers as well. The novel is very emotional and heartbreaking. It may just be Kristine's best work yet! SS is a roller coaster, complete with some beautiful, touching, swoon worthy scenes, and some scenes that will have you cringing or grasping your Nook/Kindle for dear life. The book was so hard to put down. It's definitely one of those books that you will stay up all night reading, just so you can find out what happens next. This book really makes you feel for the characters. I cried during several parts and my heart broke along with Taryn.
All of our favorite immortals are back including a new immortal, Dastan. Dastan really throws a wrench into this story. Demona is back as well, and more twisted than ever. The end is just priceless and it really opens the way for the next book.
There are no words to describe how much I love these books. Kristine is an amazing writer and story-teller. She is one of my favorite Indie Authors! I constantly go back into Spartan Heart and Spartan Surrender because it pains me to be away from these characters. That's when you know how truly great a series it. I love how these books are a journey; true love conquering all obstacles. It's amazing how much these men really do cherish their women. That's one of the best parts of this series. I love how these big, strong immortal warriors care so passionately for what is theirs. I cannot wait for the next book or for Spartan Surrender to come out in paperback so I can add it to my shelf!!
I recommend this series to anyone looking for a series that is magical, romantic and addictive.

The third installment of the Spartan Heart Saga is no less wonderful than the first two. This installment focuses on Taryn and Thessalus' relationship and Taryn's inner painful struggle to finally open her heart to love and accept those around her. So far I would say that this is my favorite book. Watching Taryn come to grips with her love, loss, and the immortality of her best friend, and learning to accept those she loves with no strings attached it was truly wonderful. What I believe to be Kristine Cheney's greatest achievement in her writing is making characters that are so real you can relate to their struggles...I look forward to her next book and hopefully many more to come.
